From what I've experienced, most sponsored tourneys have 12 weeks in a season, then the city championship, then on to the regional finals. The top 10 at the end of the season automatically get a seat in the regionals. The top 30 at the end of the season are invited to the city championship where, if you're not ranked in the top 10 for the season, you must place 3rd or better in your city championship in order to advance to the regionals.
