One casino application for southeast Kansas
The deadline for groups to submit applications to manage a casino in southeast Kansas passed Thursday, with only one entry submitted.
Penn National Gaming Inc. applied to manage a hotel-and-casino complex in Cherokee County, Kansas Lottery spokesman Sally Lunsford reported. The original deadline for the southeast gaming zone -- which comprises Cherokee and Crawford counties -- was Sept. 6, but the deadline was extended at the request of Crawford County and the cities of Frontenac and Pittsburg.
